This special PS5 update is making noughties kids nostalgic

A 'Bloodborne' easter egg was also included in the update

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation, a new update will allow users to choose from retro sounds and startup options.

As reported by Eurogamer, the new PS5 update will allow users to have the option to add a new theme that makes it look more like the previous consoles: the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. Though the themes are just visual, users will also get the original Sony Computer Entertainment logo alongside the original synthy PS1 startup sound.

As well as the new themes and audio, a special thank you message also plays when the console is shut down or restarted. “Thanks for being part of this journey,” the message reads.

The final clip in the 30th anniversary video has given Bloodborne fans hope that the game could be getting a remaster soon.

The clip showed the hunter fighting the Cleric Beast boss with the message, “It’s about persistence” written across the screen. Fans have spent nearly a decade asking for more Bloodborne and last month the servers for the game were taken down for maintenance so the message may be hinting that something is finally in the works, boosting fans’ hopes.

In other news, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone have teased a crossover with Netflix show Squid Game.
